It is safe to say that we have all met one person or another that “got the short end of the stick” when it comes to…well, life. Sometimes it can bring us a bit of shock, but other times just makes us shake our head and question some of humanity’s offspring.
On September 12, 2009 in the peaceful city of Topeka, Kansas, Jesse Dimmick, age 25, crashed a stolen van into a couple’s front yard during a high speed pursuit with the Kansas police. From the wrecked van Dimmick emerged and proceeded to break into the home of the Rowley’s family. It was claimed by the couple that Dimmick held them at knifepoint but shortly thereafter the Rowleys couple was able to win his trust through the companionship of light conversation, a bag of Cheetos, some Dr. Pepper on the rocks and then a nice Robin Williams flick to top of the evening. As soon as Dimmick fell asleep the couple was able to make their getaway and Jesse Dimmick was arrested not much later and charged with kidnapping.
Dimmick, decided to make a lawsuit against the Rowley couple for breaking the verbal promise they made to him two years prior that they would hide him from the police. Dimmick says that he offered the Rowley’s an unspecified amount of money for them to conceal his whereabouts while he was making his escape from a crime scene of which he fled after being connected with beating a man to death. If stupid hurts, this guy should be in awful agony.
