Shard London Tower – The biggest building in Europe

The ShardThe skyscraper “Shard” or the “Shard London Tower” (also formerly known as London Bridge Tower) was opened to the public with a spectacular laser show. The skyscraper “Shard” financed by Sharia-Compliant Investment is the biggest building in Europe with 309.6 meters (1,016 ft) and 72 habitable floors.

The Shard was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, have irregular pyramidal shape which is entirely clad in glass. At this moment the building is empty, but there are strict rules which companies can lease space in the building. London is definitely taking very serious the preparation for the Olympic games 2012 in August, and the tourist in London will be more than happy to hear that this building have the highest public viewing gallery in London. Well if they don’t mind paying £87 or $135 for a family of three for 30-second lift ride up the Shard to see it.


Although the most of the Londoners are proud they have the biggest building in Europe, there are also that think this building reminds a lot of the building of Sauron from the Lord of the Rings threelogy.

It is an interesting fact that although this building is the biggest in Europe, “Shard” is not even in top 50 in the world. With almost 310 meters (1,016 ft), Shard London Tower is on 59 place on the list of the tallest buildings in the world.
